Performs system level mission and trajectory analysis for the Center's projects in earth to orbit and space transportation systems. Support includes: conceptual analysis of space flight vehicles and in-space propulsion systems; trajectory and performance optimization for expendable, reusable launch vehicles and in-space vehicles utilizing high and low thrust propulsion systems; preliminary and conceptual vehicle definition for technology assessments; development and validation of space vehicle requirements; preparation and evaluation of mission proposals; and development of advanced systems analysis and analytical tools. What does this mean to you? The Systems Analysis Branch at GRC has resident expertise in mission design, mission/trajectory optimization, systems modeling, astrodynamics, mathematics, propulsion, and software development. The branch has an uninterrupted 40 year legacy of providing mission support to both high and low thrust missions. This legacy has a prestigious record of analyses for a variety of missions that actually were successfully flown. Equally visible is the family of state of the art analysis tools developed at GRC to support this work. Our current organization carries on this tradition by continuing to provide expert systems analysis, ongoing improvements to our software modeling/optimization tools, and continued research and development of new tools that reflect the latest state of the art methods. Additionally, we offer new methods (GLIDE) to do collaborative design to facilitate NASA's work. We support the One NASA initiative and GRC by performing, as called upon, system level mission and trajectory analysis for the projects in earth to orbit and space transportation systems. The services we offer are:
Conceptual analysis of space flight vehicles and in-space propulsion systems
